First Week

Annelise is changing so much and we are learning so much about her! She sleeps in 2-3 hour increments and her lungs are certainly fully developed--she is LOUD sometimes! But she's very sweet and Bryan and I can't imagine loving her any more than we already do. Below are some of her recent photos.

We are giving her sponge baths every few days and she does not like them! Once her naval heals we can move to real baths in her pretty pink tub.

Bryan studies all day, every day so time with his girls is precious. He barely gets in the door and we are all in line wanting his attention.
Getting ready for our first walk around the block in the stroller. Shelby loved the walk, but Annelise had a tough time. She got a bad case of the hiccups before we turned the corner and Daddy had to carry her the rest of the way to console her.

Daddy finally took a day off from studying on Saturday and we all got to cuddle--BLISSFUL!!

Shelby is up at all hours of the night "helping" with Annelise, so she's quite tired too!

We're Home!

The last night in the hospital, Annelise and Daddy watched a Razorback baseball game. Annelise brought them luck--they won!

Bryan drove us home from the hospital at noon on Thursday, June 18. Annelise was all dressed up in a beautiful white dress and she slept all the way home (all 10 minutes).

Unfortunately we weren't allowed to bring home any of the nurses--our little girl is quite a handful! With Bryan having to get back to his studying routine, Annelise's Gran came to stay with us for a week to help out.

She likes her swing and it helps to give us all a break!

Papa took photos of her all dressed up before we left for our return visit to the hospital. Since she is breastfeeding, she had to be re-weighed a few days following delivery. She weighed 6lbs and 12 ounces the day we went home, and fortunately weighed the same at the re-check on Saturday, June 20. She taught me a valuable lesson the day of the re-check visit...schedules do not matter to her! We were 15 minutes late for her appointment, I didn't have time to put on any make-up or fix my hair, we flew out of the house without a pacifier and she screamed all the way to the hospital! Lesson learned.

Shelby has been wonderful with Annelise. She is a great big sister and seems to be protecting her. She has to be in the room with her wherever we are and she sniffs her regularly to make sure Annelise is okay.

Our lives changed forever on June 16. Our precious little girl came into the world at 12:55pm, following an easy labor and quick delivery. She was 7lbs and 3 ounces, 19 1/2 inches long. Bryan was at my side, helping every way he could, while our family was right down the hall waiting for the big news. Our prayers were answered with a healthy (and beautiful!) baby girl. Pomp and Circumstance

Friday night (June 5) was the Orthopedic Department's farewell dinner for the 3 physicians that have just completed their residency. It was at the Old Capitol Inn in downtown Jackson. Bryan's Mom and two brothers and my Mom and Dad were there to help us celebrate Bryan's accomplishment. I remember attending this dinner several years ago when Bryan had just completed his intern year. We were just dating then, but I could have never imagined how quickly the next few years would zoom by. It was suddenly our turn to sit at the front of the room.

Awards were also given out at the dinner and I'm VERY proud to say that Bryan received the Citizenship Award from the department as well as his diploma. This award is given to the best "all-around" chief. Of course, we knew he deserved it all along! Below are a few photos from the night.
